Mark K. Ameli, Esq. was the first Iranian-American attorney in California to practice tort law, business law and workers’ compensation law, and he was among the first Iranian-American attorneys in the United States of America. His career and experience as an attorney, a mediator, an arbitrator, and a Judge Pro Tem over the past 40 years is recognized and respected throughout the state. His clients have described him as an effective mediator with a wealth of knowledge who is quick and gets to the point – qualities which contribute tremendously to his success as a neutral.

Over the past 24 years of his career, Mr. Ameli has mediated and arbitrated numerous matters, with particular experience resolving disputes in the following areas of law: general business, including contracts, corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies; business litigation; personal injury; real estate; and employment.

Mr. Ameli is able to use his perception and insight gained from having handled civil matters on both sides of the bench to convey the realistic options and potential outcomes of each case to the parties. With a patient and honest attitude, Mr. Ameli easily builds rapport with counsel and clients alike, while gaining the trust of the parties, in order to effectively mediate and ultimately resolve the matter at hand. He also has a particular understanding of cross-cultural issues, which makes him more capable than most in breaking any impasse reached due to cultural barriers that the parties could not overcome on their own.

Mr. Ameli is a Past Chair of the Conflict Resolution Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, as well as the Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee of Rotary International, where he instilled and developed many of the mediation and arbitration rules that are still followed today. In addition, he is a Founding Member of the Iranian American Lawyers Association and previously served on the Boards of the Southern California Mediation Association and the Rotary Club of Rancho Park.

Mr. Ameli holds a B.A. in Economics from UC Berkeley, an M.A. in Economics from USC, and a J.D. from UWLA. He has also completed many advanced level mediation courses at Pepperdine and Harvard Universities. He is fluent in both English and Farsi.
